Meet Your Maker – ZX Spectrum Computer Game Art T-Shirt

Description

This is a tribute retro computer game themed art print, featuring redrawn graphics from ZX Spectrum games. This t-shirt is from the perspective of the driver of Stunt Car Racer, just behind the vehicles from Outrun, Enduro Racer, Chase HQ, Crazy Cars, Super Trux and of course the Batmobile from Batman the Movie. They’re racing towards the Chequered Flag where Kokotoni Wilf welcomes them to a better place (the sun from Booty), looked over by a digitised tribute to Sir Clive Sinclair. In the background, the moon (recoloured) and exploding pixel stars are from Exolon, whilst the snow capped peak from Way of the Exploding Fist reaches into the night, offering a last farewell from the Earth.

My intention was for this to serve as 2 metaphors: 1) Spectrum games making their way to gaming heaven after their original life, going on to live another existence – still played and celebrated. 2) People racing along the rollercoaster road of life, sometimes competing, sometimes driving alongside one another. You may of course make your own interpretation – either way, I hope you enjoy it.
